#book Black Lilith #author-interviews with Hazel Jacobs
About the book:
When Mikayla Strong graduated college, she expected to hit the ground running. Instead, she’s stuck getting coffee and spellchecking contracts for BassNote Productions. She won’t give up her dream of working in events management, but no matter how many hours she spends scrolling through job ads during her lunch breaks there just don’t seem to be any jobs anymore.
A chance meeting with the drummer of Black Lilith, a hot new band getting ready for its first international tour, sends Mikayla careening out of her comfort zone and into a world of sex, drugs, and rock n roll. She goes from overqualified barista to overqualified PA overnight, and even though the band’s lead singer, Logan Todd, pushes all of her buttons, Mikayla thinks she might just be able to make this new job work for her.
But Black Lilith isn’t as tightknit as they seem in interviews. As Mikayla gets to know the four band members better, a web of lies and heartbreak begins to show itself. Between fans with knives, fights in hotel corridors, and the band’s very strict ‘no dating PAs’ rule, Mikayla’s growing attraction to Logan Todd may be the least of her problems. At this rate, she’ll be lucky if she makes it to the end of the tour…
About the Author:
While my history as a funeral director and stay at home mother might give you the impression I’m a reserved woman, the truth is very different. The truth is that I’m a passionate fan of romance and crazy fan of real rock and roll. Never trained as a writer, I began creative writing as a hobby that quickly evolved into a mission: pen a novel that brings a new generation of readers into the wild realm of loud music and total passion.
I’m a transplant to Australia who was born in Galway, Ireland. Influenced by some great authors like Lesley Jones, K.M Golland, and Kylie Scott.
Can you tell us more about your book “Black Lilith” What is it about?
Black Lilith is about an up and coming rock band that basically go through the everyday struggles of what a newly famous band would go through. My main goal was to make these boys as relatable to the everyday “normal” person but with the exciting element of fame. So there is sex, drugs & the chaos fame brings all in the mix, told by different female characters so you see them in a different light each book and also get to see the boys each find love.
Who do you think would be interested in this book, is it directed at any particular market?
Anyone that loves a modern love story that doesn’t mind a bit of a kinky, chaotic element added in the mix.
The story in Black Lilith could be the dream of many, a chance encounter meeting a band member and a lifer that spirals after that moment. Are there any scenes that you thoroughly enjoyed writing?
I really enjoyed writing the first erotic scene. I was very nervous to write it but from the feedback I got back it didn’t disappoint so I’m pretty proud I could get what was in my head out on paper and give it justice.
Is this a life that you had once dreamt of? If so why, if not, what would have been your dream life?
I think anyone has had a little daydream now and then of being a rockstar or being whisked away by one. My dream life is to be a full time author that brings a lot of joy to readers with my stories and to have that big epic love story one day.
There are obviously highs and lows to the life that Mikayla Strong has found herself. What is the most challenging experience that she faces?
She is very hard on herself at times and I think it all comes down to knowing she isn’t doing the right thing by her new little family she has made with the Black Lilith boys.
Alongside “Black Lilith” do you have any other books, or plans to write more?
Yes this is my debut novel but I am currently writing the third book about the band member Slate as I have just finished the second one recently about Tommy.
Tell us more about you? Is Black Lilith your first book? What other activities do you enjoy doing?
Yes Black Lilith is my first book. Other activities would be reading, cooking, spending time with family and friends and traveling.
Out of all the books in the world, and all the authors to choose from, which book and author would you suggest to be your favourite and why?
Definitely the Carnage series by Lesley Jones. It was such an epic love story and I felt every emotion possible in that series, It was just amazing.
What guidance would you offer to someone new to the writing work, or who was trying to enhance their craft or business?
I would tell them to just take a chance on themselves and be patient. Most importantly do it for yourself.
